My Professional Ethos

A SECURE BASE

LossĀ

Bereavement, life changes, relocation, ageing and other forms of loss touch us throughout our lives. Some losses are clearly recognised; others remain less visible. We may lose parents or siblings, relationships, work, familiar places, a sense of belonging, or aspects of ourselves associated with youth and earlier stages of life.

Loss is central to human experience. Having a confidential space in which to think about change, grief and what may feel difficult to put into words, with someone trained to listen without judgement, can be a valuable resource.

Emotional and psychological difficulties

Psychotherapy can offer an opportunity to explore the experiences, relationships and patterns that may underlie emotional distress or psychological difficulties. Rather than simply trying to remove symptoms, the work can involve becoming more able to understand what they may express or protect against.

Over time, psychotherapy may help loosen longstanding patterns that leave us feeling stuck, allowing greater emotional freedom and a fuller capacity for relationships, empathy and enjoyment of life.
